Veneers

veneersVeneers are a great cosmetic dentistry solution for a range of aesthetic problems that patients have with their teeth. If you are not satisfied with the color of your teeth, have cracks, chips, crookedness, or gaps in your teeth, porcelain veneers can be an excellent solution. Porcelain veneers are thin shells of ceramic material that are affixed to the front surfaces of your teeth. They are custom made and colored to create the smile you want. When placed by an experienced cosmetic dentist, like Dr. Jack Friend, porcelain veneers look just like natural, beautiful teeth.

If traditional orthodontic techniques like braces are not an option for you, then porcelain veneers can create the straight, beautiful smile in just a few visits, instead of undergoing years of braces. Unlike dental crowns or dental bonding, that are usually used on one or two teeth, porcelain veneers can be added to multiple upper and lower teeth. Unlike false teeth; porcelain veneers are bonded to the front of the teeth, providing a beautiful new surface that can cover any chips, stains, breaks, or gaps that may exist in your smile.

It is important to select a cosmetic dentist who is specially trained and experienced when receiving your porcelain veneers. The right cosmetic dentist, like Dr. Friend, can ensure that your porcelain veneers will improve your smile to your exact specifications. With the right porcelain veneers, the shape, color, and translucency of the veneers will look just like naturally beautiful teeth.

At your initial visit, you will consult with Dr. Friend about the porcelain veneer procedure and you will discuss the dental issues that you would like to correct. Dr. Friend will help you decide if porcelain veneers are the right solution for you and help you to schedule your next appointment.

During the second appointment, your teeth will be prepared for the porcelain veneers. This involves removing a very small amount of enamel from the fronts of the teeth in order to properly receive the new veneers. This is done to make sure the porcelain veneers fit seamlessly onto your teeth and look completely natural.

After your teeth have been prepared, a mold of your specific teeth is taken and sent to a pre-selected dental lab with detailed instructions on how to create your own custom porcelain veneers. You will also be fitted with temporary veneers for you to wear while your custom-made porcelain veneers are being created.

On your final appointment, Dr. Friend will have your custom-made porcelain veneers back from the lab. Placing them correctly takes an artistic eye and scientific knowledge. Dr. Friend possesses both of these criteria obtained through years of education and hands on experience. The new veneers are then permanently bonded to the front sides of your teeth. Following the placement of your porcelain veneers, you will be proud of your dramatically improved smile.
